Lesson Plan

1. Introduction (5 minutes)

• Greet the students in French and take attendance.
• Briefly introduce the topic of "Les loisirs" (leisure activities) focusing on sports and activities that are popular among Generation Z.
• Outline the lesson objectives on the board.

2. Vocabulary Introduction (10 minutes)

• Use flashcards to introduce vocabulary for various leisure activities and sports (e.g., faire du sport, jouer à des jeux vidéo, regarder des films, etc.).
• Repeat each word/phrase and have students repeat after you.
• Write the vocabulary words on the whiteboard and encourage students to make their own notes.

3. Verbs of Opinion (15 minutes)

• Introduce and explain the use of verbs of opinion: aimer (to like), détester (to hate), préférer (to prefer).
• Provide sentence structures using these verbs:
  • J'aime + activity/noun (e.g., J'aime jouer au football)
  • Je déteste + activity/noun (e.g., Je déteste regarder les films d’horreur)
  • Je préfère + activity/noun (e.g., Je préfère lire des livres)
• Distribute handouts with mixed sentences and have students match the correct verb of opinion with activities.

4. Listening Activity (10 minutes)

• Play an audio clip of a French teenager talking about their leisure activities and preferences.
• Ask students to listen carefully and jot down the activities and verbs of opinion they hear.
• Discuss the answers as a class and write key points on the whiteboard.

5. Group Activity (10 minutes)

• Divide the class into small groups of 3 students each.
• Provide each group with a set of flashcards showing different leisure activities and sports.
• Ask them to create short dialogues where they discuss their likes, dislikes, and preferences using the verbs of opinion.
• Encourage them to use complete sentences.

6. Individual Writing Task (5 minutes)

• Have students write a short paragraph about their own leisure activities and preferences using the vocabulary and sentence structures learned.
