I want to plan a focus on Ways to make 20. this will be worksheet based and children will count the dots and it will add up to 20. they will then realise that say 16+4=20 that 4+16=20 followed by two subtraction where 20-4=16 and 20-16=4. this is an observation by the vice principal and he will be looking me to meet the GTCNI Competencies. I want a big focus on behaviour. if early finishers we will do hit the button. for the start it will be whiteboard work and we will model some on the board so they get the hang of it. this will be done on the mat before moving of to their desk to complete their individual worksheets. number lines, hundred square can be used for the top and middle group. cubes will be given to the lower ability group to help them understand if needed. children are used to the template of the worksheet as they have done ways to make other numbers and story of a number prior. this lesson plan needs to run ab out 35 mins for the observation
